The high floor in Special Effects
SPECIAL EFFECTS has things on a band of floor high up on its left side. From the lift's top stop a pillar blocks the way, and there are no steps up from below.

The lift has two stops on TOP FLOOR. Try the one you haven't used.
Nudge 2A stronger push
From the lower stop, walk right along the lower floor into SPECIAL EFFECTS, then let yourself fall through its open floor. Where do you land, and what's on the right of that room?
Nudge 3Almost there
The far right of SPECIAL EFFECTS is a shaft with small ledges: you climb it from PROPS DEPARTMENT below.

Ride the lift to TOP FLOOR's lower stop and walk right onto the lower floor, into SPECIAL EFFECTS. Drop through the gap in its floor into PROPS DEPARTMENT, walk right, and jump up the shaft on the far right of SPECIAL EFFECTS ledge by ledge. At the top, walk left along the high band: a studio key lies there, and later in the game a magic potion on the bench and a barrel are worth coming back for.
Why it works
The pillar on TOP FLOOR is solid from top to bottom on its upper level; only the lower level is open, and the shaft is the one way up to the high band.
