The full walkthrough
The whole story, start to finish
The complete solution of Seymour Goes to Hollywood, told as one story in the order of a verified playthrough (no lives lost), with pictures from the game.
The walkthrough follows one complete game of the DOS original, recorded while verifying this remake: new game to ending, no lives lost, 97,280 steps (about 23 minutes of play, without the thinking). The pictures are taken from that recording at the moments that matter; the step number under each says where.
Each chapter starts with a short summary, so you can jump in where you are. Where a chapter solves a problem that has its own hint page, it links to it.
- 01A star arrivesSeymour finds his shades in the car, and the doorman decides he looks like a film star after all.
- 02A word in MgambeseA dictionary from the maze cheers Pippa up, and she teaches Seymour the word that gets him past Tarzan.
- 03Up the trees, up the liftA spanner from a tree hut mends the lift; a jacket from another hut, a studio key from Special Effects and pom poms from the first floor.
- 04GreaseThe first studio key opens Grease. The biker gets his jacket back and leaves a pump; Sindy gets her pom poms and hands over parrot food.
- 05Polly wants a pirateParrot food leads the parrot, hop by hop, to the pirate's hut. The grateful pirate gives up a dagger and a studio key.
- 06Up, up and awayThe big balloon from the props department, the pump, and three trips to the island for a key, flowers and rubber gloves.
- 07Keys, and the road to OzA key from a spiky tree hut opens Oz; a key from the castle top, timed past a flying patrol, opens Sherlock Bones. Rick Bracy's door opens too.
- 08The murder caseEvidence from the library (gloves on!), a warrant from Rick's office, a confession on the staircase. Rick pays in gunpowder; Sal's love letter sends him off and leaves a lollipop.
- 09Lunch for KongA second dollar buys a banana buttie from Lil across the now-safe main road; a ball for Towser; a key from the operating theatre; the mallet, the banana and the dagger for King Kong's roof. The rescued woman gives Seymour a medal.
- 10It's alive!Ten green body parts from all over the game go onto the operating table, three at a time; a coin in the slot, the gloves on the switch, and the monster walks.
- 11A heart, a brain and some courageA brain from the secret lab, a clockwork heart from Flash Boredom and the war medal make Dorothy's friends happy; her towel goes through the machine to the space base, where a potion calms Ming and a detonator waits.
- 12The movie scriptFlowers for Pippa get the office key; the big red door opens; gunpowder by the safe and the detonator blow it open. The script, at last. And a new problem.
- 13Sixteen starsEveryone wants to be in the film, for an Oscar. Sixteen are hidden under scenery all over the lot; script in hand, Seymour hands them out, and the cameras roll.
